The highlight of the Olympics opening ceremonies today was the “kinetic pictograms.” A group of three performers re-created the pictograms that indicate each Olympic event. The segment was reminiscent of the Japanese TV show “Kasou Taishou,” where teams of performers perform skits, lately involving “cinematic special effects.” During and afterwards, Twitter was abuzz with reaction to the pictograph segment. Although challenging, these are pictograms you and your friends could perform at home.
In playing the role of Mandy in the movie “Mandy’s Voice,” Rachel Barcellona tapped into her own past experiences. Marla Gibbs, the legendary star of “The Jeffersons” and “227” received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this week. The 90-year-old actress was long overdue for the honor, which she received Tuesday. Ms. Gibbs was introduced by Norman Lear, who created “The Jeffersons.” There was a brief scare during the ceremony when the legend appeared to faint. Later she was reported in good spirits.
